The demands and strains of modern life can have an impact on our sense of self-worth. And, in the last ten years, the increasing pressures of social media, the 24-hour news cycle, and the dissolution of life/work boundaries can leave you feeling powerless and overwhelmed by demands.
Add to that the continual comparison with what appear to be the flawless lives of others, as portrayed across all of your social media platforms and in advertising, and you can see how we might destroy our dignity.
You may feel trapped in your negative thinking, with the negative self-beliefs and expectations that were instilled in you as a youngster. Everyone was telling you who you were, what you could and couldn't do, how you should behave and what you should do. These messages stick with us even as adults and are not always in our best interests.
But you can modify your thinking, your set of beliefs and expectations about yourself and the world. You have the option of programming your subconscious with notions that will make you feel better about yourself. Even better, simply deciding to recharge your self-worth is a giant step forward.
